An Eritrean-Ethiopian-American computer scientist known for research on algorithmic bias in facial recognition, and for co-authoring, with lead author Emily M. Bender and Margaret Mitchell among others, the widely cited 2021 paper "On the Dangers of Stochastic Parrots", which raised early, influential concerns about the risks of ever-larger language models.
