Geoffrey Hinton

A British-Canadian cognitive psychologist and computer scientist often called one of the "godfathers of AI", known for decades of work on backpropagation and neural networks that helped revive connectionist AI after its long funding drought. He shared the 2018 Turing Award with Yoshua Bengio and Yann LeCun for their work on Deep learning, and the 2024 Nobel Prize in Physics for earlier foundational work on neural networks.
