Content provenance (C2PA)

Technical standards, most notably the Coalition for Content Provenance and Authenticity (C2PA), for attaching verifiable, tamper-evident metadata to a piece of media recording how it was created and edited, including whether AI was involved. Content provenance is a complementary approach to watermarking for helping audiences assess whether a photo, video, or audio clip is authentic. (See also: Watermarking, Deepfake)
