AI washing

The practice of overstating, misrepresenting, or exaggerating the role of AI in a product or service, typically for marketing purposes, for example by branding a simple rules-based feature as "AI-powered". AI washing is increasingly scrutinised by regulators, since it can mislead consumers and investors about a product's actual capabilities. (See also: Algorithm)
