Synthetic media

Any image, audio, video, or text that has been generated or substantially altered by AI, whether or not it is deceptive. Deepfakes are a harmful subset of synthetic media, but the category also includes benign uses such as AI-generated illustrations, dubbing, or voiceovers. (See also: Deepfake, Generative AI)
