Ruha Benjamin
An American sociologist at Princeton whose 2019 book "Race After Technology: Abolitionist Tools for the New Jim Code" argues that supposedly neutral technical systems, including AI, can encode and automate existing racial inequality while appearing objective. Her work is widely used in AI ethics teaching for connecting algorithmic bias to longer histories of discrimination rather than treating it as a purely technical bug. (See also: Algorithmic bias)
