Norbert Wiener

An American mathematician who founded cybernetics, the study of communication and control through feedback loops in animals, machines, and systems, set out in his 1948 book "Cybernetics". His work on self-regulating systems influenced early thinking about machine learning and autonomous behaviour, and Wiener himself was an early and vocal critic of the social risks of automation.
