Marvin Minsky

An American cognitive scientist and co-founder of the MIT AI Lab, one of the field's most influential early figures. With Seymour Papert, he wrote the 1969 book "Perceptrons", which proved mathematical limitations of Frank Rosenblatt's single-layer perceptron; the book is often credited with steering research funding and attention away from connectionist approaches and towards symbolic AI for over a decade.
