Compute (AI)

Shorthand for the computing power, chiefly specialised processors called GPUs, needed to train and run AI models. Access to large-scale compute has become a major bottleneck and source of geopolitical and commercial power in AI development, concentrating capability among a small number of well-resourced companies and states.
