Noam Brown
An American researcher who extended game-playing AI from perfect-information games like chess and Go to games where players hide information and can bluff. With Tuomas Sandholm at Carnegie Mellon he built Libratus, which beat top professionals at heads-up no-limit poker in 2017, and Pluribus, which won at six-player poker in 2019; at Meta he led Cicero, which reached human-level play at Diplomacy by combining strategic reasoning with natural language negotiation. At OpenAI he has worked on models that spend more computation reasoning at inference time. (See also: Inference, Compute, Machine learning)
