Herbert Simon
An American economist, political scientist, and cognitive psychologist who, with Allen Newell, built the Logic Theorist (1956) and the General Problem Solver (1957), among the first programs designed to mimic human problem-solving. Simon won the 1978 Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences for his work on bounded rationality, and his collaboration with Newell helped establish symbolic AI as a research programme.
