The ALT-TEXT Wiki is an open-access reference knowledge base dedicated to AI literacy, digital sovereignty, media literacy, and human-centred technology, maintained by ALT-TEXT.

Purpose of this Project

Navigating modern tech ecosystems requires practical, accessible documentation. The ALT-TEXT Wiki aims to demystify complex technical, regulatory, and policy landscapes – from machine learning frameworks to platform governance and European digital policy. It serves as an evolving open tool to support educators, civil society, researchers, and non-profit organisations working towards digital rights and open-source alternatives.

Methodological Disclaimer & AI Disclosure

In the spirit of transparency and digital literacy, readers should note the following regarding the current state of this wiki:

  • AI-Assisted Generation: Much of the initial structure and descriptive content across these entries was generated using large language models. While edited for scope, the text has not undergone exhaustive manual peer review.
  • Citations & References: Many entries currently lack comprehensive academic or primary-source citations. Fact-checking, source attribution, and verification are ongoing processes.
