New page

== Turing test ==
A test proposed by mathematician Alan Turing in 1950, in which a human judge holds text conversations with both a machine and another human, without knowing which is which; if the judge cannot reliably tell them apart, the machine is said to have passed. The Turing test remains a widely cited cultural touchstone for AI, though most researchers now consider it a poor measure of genuine understanding or intelligence, since a system can produce convincing conversation without anything resembling comprehension.
