New page

Loss function
A mathematical measure of how wrong an AI model's output is compared to what it should have been, used to guide training. Gradient descent works by adjusting the model's parameters to make the loss function's value as small as possible. Different tasks use different loss functions, but the underlying idea, quantifying error so it can be minimised, is the same across almost all machine learning. (See also: Gradient descent, Parameters)
